Terms of Service
Last updated: 25 April 2026Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using WebsiteScanner. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to be bound by these terms.
1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User", "you") and WebsiteScanner ("we", "us", "our"). By accessing or using the WebsiteScanner platform, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age, have the legal authority to enter into this agreement, and accept these Terms in full.
2. Description of Service
WebsiteScanner provides automated website security auditing services, including but not limited to:
- SSL/TLS certificate analysis
- HTTP security header evaluation
- Open port and service detection
- CMS (WordPress, Joomla, etc.) vulnerability scanning
- Email security record analysis (SPF, DKIM, DMARC)
- AI-generated security reports powered by Anthropic Claude
- Security scoring and trend tracking
Important: Scan results are informational only. They represent a point-in-time snapshot and are not a guarantee that your website is free from security vulnerabilities.
3. Account Registration and Security
You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activities that occur under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorised access at [email protected].
4. Acceptable Use — Authorised Scanning Only
⚠️ You must have permission to scan any domain.
You may only submit domains for scanning that you own or for which you have explicit written authorisation from the domain owner. Scanning a domain without permission may violate the Australian Criminal Code Act 1995 (Cth), the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (USA), and equivalent laws in other jurisdictions.
You agree not to:
- Scan domains you do not own or are not authorised to test
- Use the service to conduct denial-of-service attacks
- Attempt to circumvent rate limits or access controls
- Use scan results to exploit vulnerabilities on third-party systems
- Resell or redistribute scan reports without our written consent
- Use automated scraping against our platform
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section without notice and to report suspected criminal activity to relevant authorities.
5. Intellectual Property
All platform code, UI designs, logos, and original content are the intellectual property of WebsiteScanner. Scan results and AI-generated reports produced from your data are provided to you for your own use. You retain ownership of the domain and configuration data you provide.
6. Disclaimer of Warranties
The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind. We do not warrant that:
- Scan results are complete, accurate, or free from error
- The service will be uninterrupted or error-free
- Security vulnerabilities identified will be exhaustive
- Following our recommendations will guarantee security
To the extent permitted by the Australian Consumer Law (ACL), we exclude all implied warranties.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, WebsiteScanner's total liability arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the service is limited to the greater of: (a) the fees you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) AUD $100.
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or business opportunities, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law, including statutory guarantees for services supplied to consumers.
8. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless WebsiteScanner, its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising out of your use of the service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights, including scanning a domain without authorisation.
9. Subscription, Fees, and Cancellation
Subscription fees are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis. You may cancel at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not provide refunds for partial periods except where required by Australian Consumer Law.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Australian Capital Territory, Australia. You submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the ACT for any dispute arising from these Terms, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction provide otherwise.
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. We will provide at least 14 days' notice via email before material changes take effect. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
